Buddha Singha Intharachabodi — Singha One
Buddha Singha Intharachabodi continues the heritage of the Chiang Saen Singha One image, one of the most admired forms in Lanna Buddhist art. Its full chest and composed bearing recall the strength of a lion and the flourishing of Buddhist culture in northern Thailand.
Associated with Wat Khun Inthapramun in Ang Thong, this sculpture forms part of Artmulet’s exploration of outstanding Buddha images from successive artistic periods. The original account connects its inspiration with the temple’s history in the reign of King Borommakot of Ayutthaya.
Sculpted by Suchat Saejiw, the work is intended as a Buddha image for the family and a focus for mindfulness. A Maha Mongkhon Chakkrawan yantra plate is enclosed within the image. In devotional tradition, this represents auspiciousness, merit and encouragement to live well.
