Garuda Ascending to Heaven
Garuda Ascending to Heaven draws on the account of Garuda seeking the vessel of amrita, the nectar of immortality. The story belongs to the wider cycle of Garuda, his mother Vinata and the nagas, and gives the work its association with determination and gratitude.
In Thai tradition, Garuda is revered for strength, honesty and loyalty. Artmulet expresses these qualities through a sweeping composition of wings, regalia and the sacred vessel. The vessel can hold consecrated water for auspicious occasions, bringing the narrative into the sculpture’s physical design.
Created with painter Kriangkamol Nakbangkaew and sculptor Suchat Saejiw, the collection supports accommodation for meditation practitioners at Wat Khun Inthapramun. It is intended as a lasting work of Thai sacred art.
